Dumfries House Applications (UK Applicants)
Who can apply?
This residency is only open to applicants from our partner organisations, and alumni and faculty of the Royal Drawing School. If you are a US applicant please read Dumfries House Applications (US Applicants) before applying.
The selection periods are announced through our partner organisations, with two annual selection periods for UK applicants and one for US applicants.
UK applications are open to Alumni and Faculty of the Royal Drawing School. Please do not apply if you are not eligible, as we will not consider your application. Applications for the Dumfries House residency are currently closed, applications will open again in August 2017.
The artist will be provided with a studio, self-catering accommodation and one communal meal a day. The artists is expected to be self-sufficient for the duration of their stay and will need to cover all of their costs including travel, food and materials.
The residencies are intended to be a productive and creative period for the artist to be able to work in a peaceful environment, whilst enjoying Dumfries House and grounds and the surrounding countryside.
Residencies are two, three, or four weeks long. Applicants can indicate their preference in the application form.
Friday is the changeover day for all residencies. Artists must arrive between 2-5pm and depart by 10am.
Visas are the artist's own responsibility.
The Memorandum of Understanding lays out the terms of the residency. Please read it carefully before applying.
How do I apply?
Please complete the Application Form (UK Applicants).
You will be required to:
- Complete the online form
- Upload 10 images of your work no larger than 200dpi and maximum 2.5MB per image. The name of each image file should include the artwork's dimensions (in cms) and media, e.g 100cm x 200cm, Oil on Canvas. Please ensure images are of good quality.
- Upload an up-to-date CV
US applicants should complete a different application form found on the Dumfries House Applications (US Applicants) page.
