Dumfries House Applications (US Applicants)
The Dumfries House US residencies are currently only open to artists selected from our partner art schools in the United States. In 2016 we are partnering with The Arts Students League of New York, The New York Academy of Art, The New York Studio School, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), The Yale University School of Art and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
The residency is intended to be a productive and creative period for the artist to be able to work in a peaceful environment, whilst enjoying Dumfries House, its grounds and the surrounding countryside.
Each artist will be provided with a studio, self-catering accommodation and one communal meal a day. The majority of artists will be eligible for help with their travel costs – please indicate on the form whether you are able to take up the residency without a travel award. In all other matters, individuals are expected to be self-sufficient for the duration of their stay,
The duration of the residency is one month. The Friday closest to the beginning of the month is the changeover day for all residencies.
Visas are the artist’s own responsibility.
Please download the Memorandum of Understanding, which each artist will need to read carefully and sign before they are able to begin the residency.
Selection by Jury will take place at the end of April 2017. Each of our partner institutions nominates suitable candidates who are then put forward to the selection panel. Funding depending, two artists will be selected for each month-long residency between 1st July and 28th October 2017.
If you are a student at one of the above, please contact your Dean’s office for further information regarding selection. For general enquiries please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
