Biography
Michelle Cioccoloni graduated from the Royal Drawing School in 2013. She now shares her passion for drawing, painting and sculpture with the next generation of students, teaching at the School part-time. Regular drawing trips to Florence, Italy support her current research into Etruscan art, Italian sculpture, and the works of Michelangelo.
She has been Artist in Residence at Museo del Prado in Madrid, at Oskar Kokoschka's School of Seeing in Salzburg, Austria and at Hafod Estate, National Trust Wales. Her unique drawing style in pencil and ink imbues the subject with an emotional resonance that transcends the subject, and plays upon the juxtaposition between illusionistic space and flat areas of tone. This year, as Artist in Residence at Ascot (2024), drawing behind the scenes, she has created a series of drawings that distill the multifaceted nature of horse racing.
