Biography

Elvira Rose Oddy is an artist living and working in London. She studied History of Art with Philosophy at UCL and Painting at Winchester School of Art.  A love of nature and the experience of place is important in her drawing. She tries to capture the universal in the particular and is interested in communicating a certain exhilaration found in everyday experience. She seeks subjects which evoke strong feeling and always returns to certain places. Concerns of space, thresholds and microcosms recur in her work. She has a love of wild places but is also interested in liminal spaces and the juxtaposition of the man-made with the natural.  She is currently enjoying teaching young artists on the Royal Drawing School’s Drawing Clubs trainee programme and is looking forward to exploring a new landscape on her residency at Dumfries House, Ayrshire in the spring.
