Fees and Funding

No fees for 18 and 19 year olds

Through the generosity of the Royal Drawing School’s donors, The Foundation Year is free to all students aged 18 and 19 on 1st September in the year that they start the course. There are some 100% bursaries available to students over 19 and these will be allocated on a means-tested basis. The full cost of the course for fee-paying students is £5,000.

Interest-free loans

Other funding opportunities are also available for mature students who are over 19 and not eligible to have their fees paid by the School. The Royal Drawing School is registered as a Learning Provider with the Skills Funding Agency, which means that students on The Foundation Year are eligible to apply for interest-free Professional and Career Development Loans. For more information call 0800 100 900 or go to www.direct.gov.uk/CDL .

Foundation Year students are eligible for a Student Oystercard. They also receive a 50% discount on Winsor & Newton materials purchased directly through the School and a 10% discount at most other local art shops. Students have free entry to all Royal Academy exhibitions.
