The Drawn Print: Etching
Over the course of ten weeks, students will be introduced to the basics of intaglio printmaking processes such as hard ground, soft ground, drypoint, sugarlift and aquatint as well as monoprinting techniques. The etching process is an extension of the drawing process. As such, students will be asked to bring in drawings and sketchbooks to spark ideas for their prints. Working from drawings and sketchbook work, by the end of the ten weeks, students will have created a coherent body of work, which reflects their own interests and enquiries. Individual input, hands on advice and feedback will be given each week, helping students to tease out narratives and ideas, and create a unique series of prints.
