Royal Drawing School, Public Programme
Drawing School’s public programme runs over 50 daytime and evening
drawing courses each term from studios in Shoreditch, Chelsea and out of house across London. Over the years we have established a
distinguished faculty of over 75 drawing tutors, all of whom are practising
artists. Our courses are suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced artists and creative professionals.
Courses at the Royal Drawing School focus on the following areas of observational drawing: Drawing in the Studio, Drawing from Art, Drawing London and Drawing and Imagination. Students are encouraged to explore all of these areas, as they complement each other and contribute towards seeing, drawing and learning in new ways.
Drawing courses run from our main campus in Shoreditch, in a converted Victorian warehouse on Charlotte road; from our West London studio-based at The London Sketch Club in Chelsea, and 'Out of House' taking students out of the studio to draw in London's museums, galleries, streets and green spaces. The programme also includes printmaking courses that run from our intaglio print room in Shoreditch, a sculpture course that take place on Saturdays and art history lectures and in-conversations with contemporary artists on Wednesday nights.
There are three terms throughout the year with a changing programme of courses each term. Term-time courses run for one day or evening a week for either 5 or 10 consecutive weeks, drop-in sessions are also available on some courses. There are also intensive five-day holiday courses in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture that run during the Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays.
