Royal Drawing School - Public Programme

The Royal Drawing School’s Public Programme runs over 80 daytime and evening drawing courses for adults each term from studios in Shoreditch, out of house across London and online. Over the years we have established a distinguished faculty of over 75 drawing tutors, all of whom are practising artists. Our courses are suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced artists and creative professionals. The School also runs weekend and holiday courses for Young Artists aged 10 -18, designed to develop drawing skills in a supportive creative community.

Public Programme

Courses at the Royal Drawing School focus on the following areas of observational drawing: Drawing in the Studio, Drawing from Art, Drawing London and Drawing and Imagination. Students are encouraged to explore all of these areas, as they complement each other and contribute towards learning to see and draw in new ways.

Drawing courses run from our main campus in Shoreditch, a converted Victorian warehouse on Charlotte road; 'Out of House' courses take students out of the studio to draw in London's museums, galleries, streets and green spaces and Online courses, enable a wider audience to benefit from our teaching from all over the world. The programme also includes printmaking courses that run from our intaglio print room in Shoreditch, a sculpture course that take place on Saturdays and art history lectures and in-conversations with contemporary artists on Wednesday evenings.

There are three 10-week terms throughout the year with a changing programme of courses each term. Term-time courses run for one day or evening a week and drop-in sessions are available on some courses. There are also intensive five-day holiday courses that run during the Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays as well as the Drawing Development Summer Programme in which students are able to book onto three courses in the term and benefit from tutorials and mentoring.
