Drawing Attention to... the Concession Scheme
Drawing Attention to… is an annual campaign launched by the Royal Drawing School to fund a different area of the School’s work each year. The School receives no public funding, and we need to raise £2 million each year to continue to run our programmes at subsidised rates.
Our inaugural appeal, ‘Drawing Attention to the Concession Scheme’, will help to ensure high-quality tuition in drawing is available to all, regardless of circumstance. Our Concession Scheme offers discounts of 10% – 75%, and people who can benefit are art students, art teachers, early career artists, those on job seekers allowance or disability support, the local community of Tower Hamlets and Hackney and in some cases, artists over the age of 60.
In addition to the concessionary rates the School provides, the full fee for any Public Programme course is also subsidised to ensure courses are accessible to the widest range of people.
Last year the total value of concessionary discounts given to Public Programme students was £75,000, with approximately 25% of all Public Programme students receiving some type of concession. All proceeds from the 2016 campaign will go towards bolstering the School’s Concession Scheme ensuring we can continue to make our courses affordable to those most in need.
A generous friend of the School has agreed to match all donations we receive, so the more you feel comfortable giving, the greater impact it will have on our vital concessionary rate system.
