Biography
Justine King gained a first-class degree in Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art in 2012. She has since exhibited at The Royal Scottish Academy where she was awarded for her series of drawing, and now lives and works in London. King is concerned with the idea of transformation and alchemy in relation to her materials with a great interest in a time where art and the sciences connected. She creates large, time-induced, intricate drawings using controlled tonal shifts that lure viewers closer to the surface, revealing her process of creating a cumulative drawing. Her work incorporates practice-based research into new ways of combining materials through sourcing and creating her own colour palette.
