Mary Millner
- Alumni, 2004
Biography
Mary Millner is interested in the persistence of identity politics; from the multi-cultural perspective but in a self-reliant, cross-border viewpoint. Her pictures include references to territory and landscape - from Vauxhall to Bangkok. She looks for how the body in art carries political messages and how contemporary art continues to exploit traditional techniques and art history. She is positive about a future of art collaborations across borders and disciplines. Mary Millner studied at City & Guilds before joining The Drawing Year at The Prince's Drawing School (now the Royal Drawing School) in 2003. Mary has work in public and private collections including the Science Museum.
On drawing
Drawing is my way of understanding the world. My spidery line may seem messy at times but I am always aiming to be absolutely accurate and truthful.
