Biography
Richard Maguire is a multidisciplinary artist, primarily working in the medium of drawing.
Concerned with the histories and historic images of race and sexuality within Britain and South Asia, his practice approaches archives as sites of both epistemic loss and abundance, dwelling in the images and what they both communicate and that which they do not.
Maguireās solo shows include his debut entitled What Happens To Remain Unsaid at Maximillian William, London, UK (2023); In The Absence of Pleasure at Village Gallery, Leeds, UK (2023) and Amidst Relations, Patron Gallery, Chicago (2024) . Recent group exhibitions Include; The Drawing Biennial, Drawing Room London, (2024); Platform 2023, Edinburgh Art Festival, (2023); Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize, London, UK, (2023); Like Paradise curated by Ekow Eshun at Claridges Art Space, London, UK, (2023). His work can be found in a number of collections including The Arts Council Collection, The Ingram Collection and The Royal Collection.
