Biography
Rob Pointon graduated from The Drawing Year at The Princes Drawing School (now the Royal Drawing School) in 2005 having won the first term Drawing Prize and a Windsor and Newton award for his British Museum work. Now a professional artist based in Cheshire he is a member of Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA) and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA). He has exhibited frequently with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) and the New English Art Club (NEAC) and in 2016 won The Haworth Prize at the NEAC Annual Exhibition. In 2010 he had a 24ft x 6ft oil painting unveiled by HRH Prince of Wales to commemorate the centenary of the federation of Stoke-on-Trent.
Rob is currently the International Artist in Residence for the Manchester Airport Group, flying to different direct destinations and returning with bodies of work to be exhibited in the airport terminals. Rob paints entirely en plein air and has a particular interest in the use of multiple point perspective and movement within his paintings, evidenced strongly with his depiction of water and crowds.
