One Week Holiday Course // Sculpting a Canine

Velasquez’s constant shadows, Rembrandt Bugatti’s dramatic compositions, Nicola Hick’s mediators between man and nature, Landseer’s thespian personalities... The dog is many things in history and art, but for most of us they are good friends and companions.

This five-day sculpture course aims to equip students with the insight and skill to sculpt this complex, if familiar, subject. With the assistance of a canine model and art historical examples students will produce concentrated drawings and sculpt in wax to learn a process that enables us to see beneath the fur coat.

We will explore the details of the anatomy so the armature, structure and character of the fur will find expression and we will be able to portray our feelings for this emotive subject. All levels welcome.

Unfortunately, we do not offer concessions on our Summer School courses.

All of our course rates are subsidised and we also offer a comprehensive concessions scheme on our term-time courses. View all course fees and concessions.
