Young Artists Online: Drawing Club AM Aged 10 - 14

Our weekly Online Drawing Club for 10 to 14 year olds (in school years 5 - 9) is open to children who have a passion for drawing and who are able to commit to attending a weekly Saturday class online. The sessions are led by professional artists who are alumni of our postgraduate programme, The Drawing Year, and experienced in teaching children.

During the course students will draw from a clothed model, still life set-ups and the world around them. Tutors introduce new exercises and different influences each term, keeping the courses dynamic and fresh. Each session has defined objectives and outcomes with a diverse range of art references to inspire students. Past sessions have involved creating enchanted forests out of collage and playing with composition, creating narratives by drawing from models dressed as mythical characters and exploring materials such as oil pastels, looking at layering, scratching and using them to make simple monoprints.

Drawing comes naturally to young children, and is fundamental to their learning, growth, and understanding of the world around them. Drawing Club Online helps children retain and develop these drawing abilities and sustain their enthusiasm for self-expression within an artist-led environment, from home.  Regular drawing at any age can enhance focus and concentration and increase self-esteem, and this can be especially beneficial for school-age children.

Materials are not included. We can send a recommended list of materials to purchase for the course.
