'Michelangelo: the last decades' at the British Museum
We're pleased to be working with the British Museum on their highly anticipated exhibition, Michelangelo: the last decades. Together we have developed two live online drawing events which will take students into the heart of Michelangelo's life and work. The tutor-led sessions featuring images from the exhibition, exclusive insights from curators and a live model, will allow you to get under the skin of Michelangelo’s work.
Life Drawing: Michelangelo
In partnership with the British Museum
Online (Zoom)
- Lunchtime session: Tuesday 25th June 1pm - 2pm
BOOK Lunchtime Life Drawing: Michelangelo - Evening session: Tuesday 2nd July 6.30pm - 8.30pm
BOOK Evening Life Drawing: Michelangelo
Through a series of practical life drawing exercises led by experienced tutors students will gain a greater understanding of Michelangelo as an artist and a person. We will look at how he approached drawing the figure, how we might also draw with some of his explosive inventiveness, and consider how the act of drawing might be turned into a means of spiritual meditation.
By drawing through the eyes of the great artist, we can deepen our own understanding of why Michelangelo’s drawings are some of the most important in art history, and find ways in which we might challenge and feed our own artistic practice.
Digital Studio
Our Michelangelo inspired sessions form part of our Summer Term Digital Studio Series. Drop-in online drawing sessions which allow you to join our community in real time, via live-stream technology, from wherever you are. Experience our tutor-guided lunchtime and evening drawing sessions, broadcast from our studios in Shoreditch, London, using specialist filming equipment giving students the opportunity to experience the dynamic and dramatic possibilities of the life room from home.
Digital Studio sessions run on Tuesdays 1-2pm and 6.30-8.30pm starting from 28 May. Classes are available to purchase per session or discounts are available when booking the entire series.
