Drawing and Feasting
To celebrate the opening of our new studios on the third floor of our Shoreditch campus we are hosting a free three-day drawing marathon spending the day drawing together, sharing dinner and then finishing with an evening lecture or film. This intensive course runs over a long weekend exploring drawing a variety of media from pencil, charcoal and pen to extended media including sculpture, monoprinting, intaglio printmaking, graphic storytelling and drawing from film. We will learn how to make our own drawing materials including inks and pastels using historic recipes. Each day there will be drawing sessions from which you can curate your own programme working in the life room, print room or out of house. In the evening students will share an informal studio dinner together, before the evening lecture or film. On the Sunday evening there be a large themed feast with students, tutors and guests to discuss and celebrate the weekend's achievements, ringing the start to the new Autumn Term. All levels are welcome.
The marathon will be taught by a variety of faculty to introduce new courses and tutors at Shoreditch on the third floor studio.
Tea and coffee will be available throughout each day and a light informal supper will be provided on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th September between day and evening classes. On Sunday 16th there will be no evening session but an extended feast. We provide dinners and soft drinks but please BYO for any other drinks.
