Sarnath Banerjee in-conversation with William Feaver

After getting a degree in biochemistry, Sarnath Banerjee received an MA in Image and Communication from Goldsmiths College, London. He has written graphic novels including Corridor, published by Penguin (India) and Vertige Graphics (France) in 2004, Barn Owl's Wondrous Capers, on the scandals of 18th century Calcutta by Penguin (India) and Denoel (France) in 2007, The Harappa Files in 2011, and All Quiet in Vikaspuri in 2016.

Banerjee was the shortlisted artist for the Abraaj Group Art Prize 2015 curated by Omar Kholief. In 2012, he had a solo exhibition History is Written by Garment Exporters at the CCA in Glasgow and was commissioned by Frieze Projects East for a public arts project during the London Olympics.  He has also participated at group shows at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, 2014; DAAd gallery, 2013 and the Haus der Kulture der Welt, 2012 in Berlin.

His drawings and videos have been exhibited at Paris-Delhi-Bombay, Centre Pompidou, Paris; Indian Highway 5, MAXXI-National Museum of XXI Century Art, Rome, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Julia Peyton-Jones, (Directors, Serpentine Gallery); Chalo India!, Mori Museum, 2008; Karton Gallery, Budapest, 2007, Kunstmuseum Bern, 2007; The Museum Fondazione Sandretto re Rebaudengo, Torino, 2006; IFA gallery Stuttgart, 2006; IFA Gallery Berlin, 2005.
