Biography
Barbara Majek (b. 1993, UK) is a London-based artist of Yoruba heritage. She received her BA in Fashion Textiles, Embroidery from UAL, MRes in Fine Art and Humanities from Royal College of Art and holds a DipHE in Sociology.
Majek crystallises her broad practice through drawing. She’s built a library of texture, colour, and mark-making, pushing drawing towards tactile, sculptural realms. She does this by working across textiles, embroidery, sculpture, collage, painting, audio-visual, writing, and participatory/public art projects.
She is committed to crafting beauty and storytelling for healing, drawing from Yoruba mythology, nature, Afro-surrealism, and historical fiction. To uncover inner worlds — sacred ways of knowing within the female body through an African diaspora lens. Delicate yet bold, her work invites viewers into timeless, textural landscapes.
