Biography
Douglas Farthing was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk and enlisted into the British Army Parachute Regiment in 1984, retiring in 2013. Douglas had no formal art training before The Drawing Year and feels that the drawings and paintings made during his time with the army have helped him develop into the artist he is today. The acute perception and recognition of the tension and beauty in life acquired as a soldier, now serve him well as an artist. Douglas has held several successful exhibitions and a selection of his work resides in the National Army Museum and within various military messes and private collections.
