Biography

Joanna Moore read Architecture and History of Art at Cambridge and worked as an architectural historian before completing The Drawing Year, where she received the Patrons’ Prize. Since then she has exhibited in Southwark Cathedral, Spitalfields and undertaken numerous illustration and portrait commissions. She teaches Art at Epsom College in Surrey. Joanna makes drawings, prints and paintings about layers of history and narratives in London and beyond, be they the stones of medieval cathedrals or mudlarks sifting through the dregs of the Thames. Based in west London’s suburbs, her recent work has been inspired by leafy parks and tracking shy deer through trees.
