Biography

Serena Rowe trained at Chelsea College of Art, Edinburgh University and the Florence Academy of Art before completing The Drawing Year at The Prince's Drawing School (now the Royal Drawing School) in 2006-7. She exhibits at the Royal Academy of Art Summer Exhibition, Royal Glasgow Institute, Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize, and ING Discerning Eye among others. She was awarded the RGI Kelly Gallery award in 2005 which resulted in her first solo show in Glasgow and she was a runner up in the Young Artists' Britain award to celebrate HRH Prince of Wales’ 50th birthday celebrations in 1997. She is passionate about drawing and painting, and always tries to keep her marks as free and spontaneous as possible. Although based in London, her Scottish roots are a strong influence in her work. She looks to Goya, Eardley, Velasquez and Peploe for guidance and hopes that one day she’ll be able to call herself an artist.
