Biography
Fraser Scarfe grew up in Lincolnshire. He is Head of Education Delivery and part of the teaching faculty at The Royal Drawing School. He studied on the Drawing Year 2012-13.
Scarfe won the Drawing Bursary at the 2013 ING Discerning Eye exhibition. In 2018 he was a guest judge on ‘The Big Painting Challenge’ (BBC). His first book, ‘How to Paint Atmospheric Landscapes in Acrylics’, was published in 2016. In 2023 he was selected by His Majesty King Charles III, to record in drawing and painting, the events of the Coronation. In 2025 he joined Their Majesties as official tour artist on the State Visit to The Republic of Italy.
As a painter, drawing has always been firmly at the core of Scarfe’s practice. His work begins on location as a direct response to the landscapes (familiar or strange) he finds himself in.
