Harrie Parker

Harrie Parker's paintings and writing draws on her experiences in the British Army. She studied art and art history, and has published two critically acclaimed books. In 2025, she became the Director of the Royal Drawing School.

Biography

Harrie Parker grew up in Wiltshire and completed a Foundation Degree at Falmouth College of Art before going on to study History of Art at University College London, where she focussed on post-1945 abstract expressionism. Harrie joined the British Army when she was 23 and served in Iraq in 2007 and Afghanistan in 2009, before going on to work as a civil servant. She is the author of two critically acclaimed books, Anatomy of a Soldier (Faber, 2016) and Hybrid Humans (Wellcome Collection, 2022). She has worked at the Royal Drawing school since 2021 as Deputy Director and Director of Education, and in 2025 became the Director of the school.
