Biography

Hugo Lines is a figurative painter working in the South West of England. Land and cityscapes are the core of his work. The space that a crowd moves through or the space under a tree or bridge is of endless fascination to him. The artwork always begins with drawings and quick paintings from life, and completed in the studio. Being away from the subject matter allows him more freedom to work with the imagination and to be able to simplify the work.
