Biography
Marina Renee-Cemmick (b. 1994) graduated from The Glasgow school of Art in 2018. She received the RSA John Kinross Award, and had her first solo show ‘Underlying Structures’ at The New Glasgow Society, before embarking on The Drawing Year in 2019. Predominantly concerned with the human body, her background in Dance, Butoh and physical theatre allows for a sensitivity towards expression and movement. There is a poetic narrative in the way figures interact through touch or the absence of it, often reaching a depth of emotion that juxtaposes beauty with melancholy. Her work combines observational drawing with references from art history, religious iconography, and found material.
