Biography
Pollyanna Johnson studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art before joining the Royal Drawing School the following year. Using rural England as her stage, Pollyanna strives to create an atmosphere of unsettling silence in which we feel a sense of something having just happened, or of a memory we cannot quite reach. There is a beauty in the skies of the Fens and the curves of the Downs, which threatens us in her images. Defying easy categorisation and working across landscapes, still lives and portraits, she finds that pencil proves a powerful medium for capturing these echoing moments.
