Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, there’s a host of new opportunities on the horizon for artists. Below, we’ve compiled a selection of residencies, grants, and prizes open to applications in January and the coming months:
The Drawing Year
We can't forget to mention The Drawing Year, as the applications are open for 2025-2026 - it's a full scholarship postgraduate-level course offering up to thirty students the opportunity to focus on drawing from observation for one year. There are no tuition fees for The Drawing Year – all students are awarded a full scholarship and receive a free studio space.

The Derek Hill Foundation: Glenveagh Residency, Donegal
This is a new, exciting opportunity for an artist to spend three weeks immersed in the remote landscapes of Donegal between March and April 2025. This residency offers a rare chance to engage deeply with nature and create work inspired by the serene and rugged surroundings.

Autograph: Applications Open for London Artist-Teacher Residencies
Autograph is offering two fully funded 6-month residencies for London-based secondary school art and photography teachers from global majority backgrounds. This residency provides time and space for educators to develop a new body of work exploring the relationship between personal creative practice and teaching.

Palazzo Monti Artist Residency

The Homiens Art Prize
The Homiens Art Prize is an international, non-acquisitive prize open to all artists and art forms. Selected artists’ works are celebrated across various media platforms and exhibited online, reaching audiences and collectors worldwide. It’s a fantastic opportunity to gain global recognition for your art.

The White Pube Creatives Grant
This is a rolling monthly grant providing £500 to a different working-class creative practitioner in the UK each month. It’s a great opportunity for creatives from underrepresented backgrounds to secure additional funding for their projects.

Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) Annual Exhibition 2025
Artists are invited to submit work for exhibition alongside RBA members at the Annual Exhibition 2025. Accepted mediums include painting, sculpture, drawing, and original prints.

The NAE Open is an annual exhibition and professional development opportunity for UK-based artists from the Global Ethnic Majority and all artists living in Nottinghamshire.

Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) – Open Call 2025
Artists are invited to submit work for exhibition alongside RI members at the Annual Exhibition 2025. Eligible pieces can include watercolour, acrylic, ink, or gouache on various supports.

Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize
