Drawn Together | Supporting Emerging Artists
Drawn Together: Royal Drawing School Summer Show 2024 is now open!
This group exhibition reveals the breadth and flexibility of drawing and the unique way in which it connects all artistic practice. The exhibition emphasises the way in which the boundaries of perceptual drawing can be pushed; from works on paper, metal and ceramics to woodblock prints and etching.
The 30 exhibiting artists are all graduates of the Royal Drawing School’s postgraduate-level programme, The Drawing Year, who have studied at the School over the past 24 years. The programme is a springboard into professional artistic practice with alumni going on to have gallery representation, exhibiting nationally and internationally. On this occasion however, it is a unique opportunity to see these artists back at the Royal Drawing School's gallery in Shoreditch where they started their artistic careers.
Supported by Maria Manetti Shrem
Drawn Together is the first in a new annual programme of exhibitions at the Royal Drawing School, made possible with the generous support of arts philanthropist Maria Manetti Shrem. Maria is a Founding Patron of the Royal Drawing School and has been an integral part of the School's growth and development. She says:
"I am very excited about this exhibition. It is an amazing opportunity for the artists to exhibit and sell their work. It is important to support artists at the beginning of their career, and it is the purpose of my life to help young people achieve their dreams. This programme of exhibitions will support the School too, allowing them to maintain the high level of education they provide and enable them to keep growing. It is very exciting that the School is becoming an art gallery, this is a new way that they will be able to continue to support their artists and show the very best of contemporary drawing."
