Programme details

As part of a supportive artistic community, students collaborate with peers, exchange critical feedback, and refine their practice in an inspiring environment. Each student will participate in:

  • Tuition comprising three daytime courses (or 180 hours over 10 weeks)
  • Two private 1-hour tutorials
  • Two 1-hour mentoring sessions
  • A group critique
  • Creative conversations and lectures
Tuition
Students personalise their learning programme by choosing three daytime courses (or equivalent) from the in-person term time programme or the online programme. There are over 100 courses to choose from, all taught by our expert faculty of practising artists. Places are offered on a first-come first-served basis. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
Tutorials & Mentoring

Each student receives four one-to-one sessions throughout the term:

  • Two tutorials with different members of faculty
  • Two mentoring sessions with one member of faculty

These online sessions provide dedicated time to discuss your work, receive tailored feedback, and explore both your recent drawings and wider artistic practice.

Group Critique
At the end of the term, students participate in a group crit alongside their peers. Led by a faculty member, this session offers an invaluable opportunity to present your work, gain fresh perspectives, and develop critical thinking skills.
Creative Conversations and Lectures
Students enrolled in the Drawing Intensive programme gain access to the Wednesday Evening Creative Conversation Series, curated by art historian and curator Dr. Claudia Tobin. This inspiring online and in-person programme features thought-provoking talks and discussions with leading contemporary artists, art historians, gallerists, curators, and writers. Past speakers have included Maggi Hambling, Cornelia Parker, Tal R, Denzil Forrester, Helen Cammock, and Michael Landy.

Curriculum

Courses at the School are focused around three core areas: drawing in the studio, drawing from art, and drawing our environment. Students can explore imaginative approaches to observational drawing through the above and from specialised courses. Printmaking is also taught as an extension of drawing. This diverse curriculum encourages experimentation and skill development across different drawing disciplines.
