Overview

In this Digital Studio session students will explore how the glow of artificial lighting can bring new dimensions to observational drawing. From Caravaggio's dramatic chiaroscuro to Lucas Samaras' colourful Polaroid staging, this session will consider how artists use new and exciting methods to illuminate and rethink the human form.

Working with a live model in a range of short and long poses, students will develop their observational drawing skills. In this session, models will be cast in opposing colours for students to observe the transformative qualities of colours on the human form.

Each Digital Studio session makes use of the School's multi-camera digital studio to create drawing-from-observation opportunities that are only possible online. Tutors offer guidance throughout to help students approach different poses and get the most out of each session.

Please note: online models will not pose nude. Models in this series will be semi-clothed.
