Overview

Thinking of a memory of a place, person, dream, picture or a long gone, much loved house, we experience an absence or loss and invent and conjure ways to depict what we remember. A memory condenses and reduces to a completeness, being neither purely objective or subjective. It is original to the artist.

Presently, we inevitably think of the people and places outside of where we are. We rely on our imagination. As well as the relative position of things, what eludes you is the overall harmony, the movement - what makes ‘it’ an ‘it’. In our exploration we will hope to achieve a response that shows breadth; air moving evenly and unbrokenly across the sheet.

Please note this course has an emphasis on the use of imagination and memory which can at times elicit difficult feelings for some.

Who is it for

Artists, creatives and image-makers of all levels welcome, including beginners.
