Overview
Ancient patterns for labyrinths can be traced back and applied to our unique perspectives and experiences. This course invites students to consider labyrinth and mazes as physical and imaginative maps that are worlds of their own to be explored creatively. In this way, artists become the way-maker.
Students will use art materials and textures to explore the history and concepts of labyrinths and mazes. Students will orientate with the folding, tiling and shaping of paper and find new linear ways to thread, follow and see timeless patterns.
At its core, this course considers mazes and labyrinths as a portal entrance into a puzzle of choices. This is no ordinary journey. How can an artist recreate the maze sensation or become timelessly lost in the labyrinth’s paths as they make them?
Who is it for
