Overview
Held onsite at the National Gallery, this course is inspired by the incredible collection spanning 2,300 paintings from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Sessions include figure drawing, landscape, portraiture, and mythology, with insights into art history
Students will develop key drawing skills-line, tone, shape, form, perspective, proportion, and colour, and be encouraged to keep a regular sketchbook.
Young artists will sharpen their observational skills, develop their own artistic voice, and work directly from artworks on display in the gallery.
Students will be drawing in public gallery spaces at the National Gallery and, occasionally, outdoors.
Who is it for
Students aged 10–14 (school years 5–9) with a passion for drawing and a desire to develop their skills.

To apply for a scholarship, please complete the Scholarship Application Form.
If your application is successful, you will be added to our general scholarship database. Ahead of each term you will be asked to select your course preferences, however please note that this does not guarantee a place on a termly course.
All courses are allocated on a first come first serve basis. If you are successful in securing a place on a course we will email you to confirm which course your Young Artist will be attending.
Please note applications for the database will be open from Friday 26 September to Friday 10 October at midday.
