Overview
The human figure captivates us with its expressive rhythm, engaging our perception, awareness, and emotional response. This course invites students to explore the dynamic energy within the body and understand how coordinated movement gives the figure its visual rhythm.
Beginning with the skeletal structure, we will study how it supports the mass, shape, and overall balance of the body. Through a mix of short and long poses, students will develop a fresh sensitivity to spatial awareness and gesture in every stance. As the course progresses, we will look at how larger shapes, planes, and muscle groups interact to create a sense of rhythm and form.
Working from observation and memory, you will strengthen hand-eye coordination and build a foundation for expressive and imaginative figure drawing. The goal is not only to improve technical skill, but also to unlock the emotional and kinetic power of the human form.
