One Week Holiday Course // Sculpting a Head

This course will focus on exploring strategies for creating and developing expressive portrait heads using different methods of making, and also looking into the history of the subject. Students are taken through the various stages of modelling a head from finding the skull under the skin, to the contour layers of the flesh and how to approach the finer features, working at different speeds with the express purpose of finding expressive form. Students will work from a clothed model in the studio and by the end of the week will have a portrait sculpture. It is open to all levels of experience, including both new and returning students, for whom this will be an opportunity to finesse their technique and extend it into a more expressive realm.

Unfortunately, we do not offer concessions on our holiday courses.

All of our course rates are subsidised and we also offer a comprehensive concessions scheme on term-time courses. View all course fees and concessions.
