Overview

Since the Renaissance, artists have worked between the two areas of sculpture and drawing, looking to one to solve artistic and creative problems in the other. In the twentieth century almost every eminent painter pursued and incorporated sculpture into their practice. For many sculptors there was a need to pursue painting in their practice. There were many painters in the past that you wouldn’t expect who worked in this way, as well as eminent artists of today.

We will look at this technically and with regards to different creative playful strategies. Working between sculpture and drawing can slightly alter one’s previous formed ways of thinking and connecting with a subject or object chosen from your surroundings. The drawings and sculptures from some parts of the course are intended to be expressive whilst others will pursue solidity.
