Abie Alexander-Ikwue

Q. Who is your favourite artist and why?
Francis Bacon, I like the cold and surreal quality to his work and I find storytelling aspects within art really interesting so I really like his use of triptychs. 

Q. Why did you join the Young Artists?
So I would have more of a chance to try art outside of being at school or at home, giving me the ability to share my art with others, be critiqued by tutors and see the work of other people my age who love art as well.

Q. Which session did you enjoy at the Royal Drawing School and why?
I have over time, really come to enjoy sessions that we spend a session on one piece of work, as I rarely get the chance to put my full focus on one piece of work for a long time.

Q. How has attending the Young Artists helped you develop your work?
It has introduced me to so many more mediums of art that I love now, which I would not have tried otherwise. I have also learned so much about other artists who inspire me and influence the way I work.

Q. What are your plans for the future?
I'm not sure, but I'm definitely going to keep doing the Young Artists courses next year, and try to start a long term sketchbook.
