Drawing Closer presents the works of The Online Drawing Development Year 2025 graduates. The Online Drawing Development Year brings together emerging and established artists worldwide. Though students live and work across different countries, time zones, and cultural contexts, they have spent a year learning, drawing, and developing their creative practices with each other. Their shared digital space has drawn them closer and fostered a dynamic community grounded in mutual support, critical engagement, and a shared commitment to the act of looking and the practice of drawing.

The Online Drawing Development Year students dedicate themselves to slowing down and drawing from observation. Whether studying the figure, interior space, abstract landscape, or everyday objects, students have approached their subjects with imagination, discipline, and curiousity. The works on display reflect this; embodying traces of time spent in attentive looking and mark-making to record no only what is seen, but how it is encountered.

This exhibition celebrates the culmination of their online experience to bring their work together for the first time. We invite you to experience the diversity of approaches, influences, and visual languages that have evolved within this geographically dispersed yet connected cohort.
