About
In this course, students will work with a life model in a different location each week, taking in the best of London's natural and urban landscapes.
The idea of the figure in the landscape, the encounter between human being and the unbounded space of nature, is seen across the history of European painting. We might think of Poussin's classical scenarios, Patinir's Northern hermits, Manet's lunch on the grass, Jack Yeats' stricken figures, and Jeffrey Camp's lovers above the Thames.
Combining the focus of the life room with the unpredictable outside, these sessions will encourage students to investigate scale, gesture, expression, sequence, and narrative, in a variety of responses.
Students will work in both colour and monochrome exploring a range of different drawing media.

Occasionally locations/meeting points may need to change so please check your emails the night before classes are due to take place and bring your mobile phone with you on the day so that the administrator can contact you if need be.
