Fact sheet, Summer Term 2026 Materials of Drawing
About
Whilst rooted in drawing the figure from observation, this course also provides an opportunity for experimentation and invention. This is very much a hands-on course, in a lively and productive studio atmosphere. Students will be introduced to a wide range of raw materials with which they can draw and will prepare their own paint, inks, supports, painted grounds, pastels and printing materials that can be used when working from the model.
By working with materials and methods not widely adopted, the course aims to show how these can positively influence the language and appearance of drawings.
