Phoebe Unwin in-conversation with William Feaver

Phoebe Unwin’s paintings shift between figuration and abstraction creating a personal register of images and marks: observations of reality, constructs of memory or indirect refer- ences to particular places and events. Using a variety of media, from oil and acrylic paint to pastel and graphite, Unwin creates playful and irreverent images, often imbued with a stern psycho- logical presence. Phoebe Unwin lives and works in London and is represented by Wilkinson Gallery, London. Unwin’s work was featured in The British Art Show 7, which toured to Nottingham, The Hayward Gallery, London, Glasgow and Plymouth. She had a solo exhibition at Wilkinson Gallery in September 2013.
