Overview
Join our free, live online class inspired by the aviary at Waddesdon Manor, specifically for art educators.
Using specially filmed footage of the aviary, its birds and its striking architecture, you’ll draw alongside a practising artist and explore the Royal Drawing School’s distinctive, practice-led approach to observational drawing.
Led by artist and tutor Naomi Workman, you'll move through a series of drawing exercises, discovering ways to capture the movement and character of exotic birds, respond to the shapes and structures of the aviary’s architecture, and turn close observation into creative ideas.
Designed for Art & Design teachers and art educators, the session connects directly with the observational skills and creative processes at the heart of both GCSE and A-Level qualifications. You’ll experiment with different ways of recording what you see, explore materials and techniques, and consider how observation can lead to more personal and imaginative responses.
Why attend? Draw alongside other teachers and educators, and build your confidence in leading observational drawing with your students, both in and beyond the classroom. You’ll explore practical drawing exercises that you can adapt for your own teaching, whether in the classroom, on a school trip or in other learning environments. There will also be space to develop and enjoy your own drawing practice.
In partnership with Waddesdon Manor and the Rothschild Foundation.
