Overview

Flowing through time, the ancient technique of watercolour dates back to prehistory when twigs and pigments suspended in water were used to draw on cave walls. Materials will be explained, and instruction will be given on basic techniques through images and demonstrations. Any water-based medium can be termed watercolour, meaning any painting material soluble in water e.g., tempera, gouache, poster paints, inks and watercolour pencils.

Over the five weeks, there will be an opportunity to transcribe from high resolution images and draw directly from observation, as well as from one's imagination.

Who is it for

Artists, creatives and image-makers of all levels welcome, including beginners.
