Overview
This course involves the making of drawings of both private spaces and larger public spaces. Working from direct observation in some parts of the course and from secondary sources such as photographs and films in others, sessions are well suited to students who may not be able to travel too far from their screen. Participants will learn spatial and compositional drawing strategies to allow them to make inventive and engaging drawings and will look at work from artists who have a similar approach.
With a different location explored each week, subjects will include busy interiors and city scenes such as Grand Central Station New York, Piccadilly Circus and Shanghai amongst others. Classes will rotate between two tutors on alternate weeks, both of whom have drawing at the centre of their own practices.
Who is it for
Beginners welcome. No experience of drawing required.
