Overview

In these times, apocalyptic imagery is everywhere, but so too is an interest in how life came to be, and a desire to birth new worlds above, beyond, and within this one. We will begin by making drawings sparked by creation myths, and exploring the intricate microcosm of lichen, an ancient and tenacious life form. Later in the course sources including the lost knowledge of civilisations past, flood imagery, the cinema of catastrophe and more, will provide rich sources of inspiration.

The course will provide plenty of opportunity to learn about how to work with sources such as art history, film and literature, and bring observation and imagination together in your work.

Please note this course has an emphasis on the use of imagination and memory which can at times elicit difficult feelings for some.

Who is it for
