Overview

There is something deeply rewarding about returning to the same subject each day and discovering something new every time. This course celebrates the art of sustained looking, taking time to observe, reflect, and respond to a single pose throughout the week.

With one figure pose as our focus, students are encouraged to explore their individual responses to the motif through drawing and painting. This slow and thoughtful approach allows space for experimentation, whether working on one piece across the week or producing a series of studies. A painting can be more than a depiction; it becomes a visual record of subtle discoveries and evolving perception.

Through practical exercises, group discussions, and colour demonstrations, we will explore tone, colour, temperature, light, spatial relationships, and pictorial structure. The course is open to all levels, with individual guidance tailored to each student's pace and experience.

Who is it for

Artists, creatives and image-makers of all levels welcome, including beginners.

What’s provided

For studio courses, easels, drawing boards, charcoal, newsprint and masking tape are provided in the studios for free.
