Overview
Join artist and tutor Dexter Orszagh for a two-hour live online drawing class, streamed directly from our exhibition Frank Bowling: Driven to Draw. Responding to works in the exhibition, the session explores the vital role drawing has played throughout Frank Bowling’s sixty-year career.
The class begins with a special introduction from two people closely involved in Bowling’s artistic life. His son, Ben Bowling, and grandson, Frederik Bowling, both play active roles within Frank Bowling Studio, working closely with the artist and his practice. Drawing on this experience, they will offer a personal insight into the place drawing holds within his work.
Ben and Frederik will return at the end of the session for a group critique with Dexter, discussing the drawings made and shared during the class and offering ideas for how students might develop their work further.
This special session offers the chance to experience the exhibition from home while gaining a deeper understanding of Bowling’s practice. Through Dexter’s guided exercises, you will explore how drawing can become an instinctive way of thinking and experimenting.
All levels are welcome.
