Overview
Contemporary examples are used as a starting point for exploring the huge potential of the form, from graphic memoirs and essays to realist and dystopian fiction. Students on this course will be encouraged to experiment, utilising various prompts as starting points for the generation of inspiration and ideas.
These practical exercises will be supported by short lectures, reflective group discussion, pair and individual work, alongside one-to-one feedback towards the end of term to accompany the personal project with which the course culminates. Homework is set each week.
Please note this course has an emphasis on the use of imagination and memory which can at times elicit difficult feelings for some.
Who is it for
Artists, creatives and image-makers of all levels welcome, including beginners.
