Overview
Booking for our Young Artist Holiday Courses will open on Wednesday 3 June at midday.
Animation is the art of bringing movement to images.
During the week students will experiment with different animation techniques and learn how to apply the fundamental principles of animation to their own personal animation project.
Inspired by artists such William Kentridge and Matt Bolinger as well as classical and
experimental animations, students will draw from observation, imagination and film. Students will investigate the art of drawing movement and landscape and the impact different mark making and choices of colour can have.
Students will be encouraged to balance improvisation with planning, learn how to draft their own storyboards and how to develop these into a final stop motion animation to bring their drawings to life.
By the end of this course students will have gained a strong foundational understanding of the core principals of animation and how they can carry this through to other artistic disciplines.
Please note students will need to download to their phone, a free, stop motion app to use during the course. Full details will be provided in advance.
To attend this course students must have a good level of spoken English.
